EHS and HR Covid update – 23.02.2022
The Government announcement on the 21st of February 2022 confirmed there is no longer a legal requirement to self-isolate following suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19. Grainger and Worrall will implement and follow Government guidance as we have done throughout the pandemic, this means that effective from the 24th of February 2022 Grainger and Worrall employees will no longer be legally required to isolate following a positive test or symptoms of COVID. However, the government guidance is that individuals who test positive for COVID 19 are encouraged to stay at home for 5 days and then return to their normal routine when two negative Lateral Flow Device test results are received.
Individuals who are either partially or fully vaccinated and who are close contacts of someone with COVID 19 will no longer be required to isolate, take tests for 7 days or remain at home.
The government has also confirmed that provisions for SSP payments where employees are eligible for SSP from Day 1 of COVID 19 illness will remain in place until 24th March.
Face coverings will no longer be a mandatory requirement and will revert to being an optional requirement. We will be maintaining most COVID control measures throughout the business such as touch point cleaning, hand sanitisation and good personal hygiene practices that we have learnt throughout the last 2 years.
Please be aware that that with the removal of the government requirement to self-isolate, any absence related to COVID will now be treated the same as all other sickness absence and will no longer require a self-isolation note to be provided. Any COVID or other sickness related absence will still need to be reported as per the normal absence procedure, and a medical “Fit Note” will be required to support any absence of more than 7 days. The absence reporting telephone line is: 01746 711307.
